Her latest film Red Lights was given a mixed response from critics when it hit cinemas earlier this month.
But like every thick-skinned actress, Joely Richardson hasn't let the critics get her down as she escaped to Corsica for some time out with her daughter.
The actress, 47, showed off her trim frame in a black swimsuit as she enjoyed a dip in the sea in the resort of Calvi.
Standing tall at 5ft 9in, no doubt the former Nip/Tuck star would have stood out from her fellow holidaymakers.
Accompanying her was her 20-year-old daughter Daisy, from her first marriage to producer Tim Bevan, who she divorced in 1997 after five years of marriage.
The actress was reading John Irving's latest novel In One Person, a story of 'unfulfilled love'.
Calvi, on the north west coast of Corsica, is known for its historical citadel and five-mile beach.
Her trip comes after her latest film Red Lights was given a negative response from critics.
The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and USA Today failed to warm to the Spanish-American thriller, which starred Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Elizabeth Olsen.
Meanwhile, Joely is hoping to land the role of a reporter in upcoming film Paganini - The Devil's Violinist.
She told the Daily Telegraph: 'I really want to do Paganini, and it is likely that I’ll get to do it.
'We are just ironing out some timing clashes. It’s a great story and I would love to be in it – not least because it would mean I get to play a journalist.'
Earlier this year, Joely starred in the Rose Theatre Kingston's production of Henrik Ibsen's The Lady From The Sea to rave reviews.
Bit of beach bling: The actress was wearing bracelet, rings and necklaces as she went for a dip in the Mediterranean
