The couple split in August after a brief four month relationship.Over the last week, the couple have been in daily contact and are planning to meet face-to-face soon.
A friend told the MailOnline: ’Jennifer reached out to John first. She had a few glasses of wine - then decided to throw caution to the wind and make the first move.
‘John was pleasantly surprised to hear from her. He says they’ve been in contact pretty much every day since and he’s really looking forward to seeing her again soon.’
In a video interview, Mayer claimed he had done the dumping, blaming lack of chemistry between the pair.

Following her Latin break, Jennifer has a host of films to promote for the remainder of the year.
She has three films coming out before Christmas, including Marley & Me with Owen Wilson, Traveling with Aaron Eckhart and Martin Sheen and He’s Just Not That Into You with Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck and Scarlett Johansson.
